A year after the caravan of trucks, three participants remember
Amélie Sirois, mother and Ottawa resident
With a smile on her lips and eyes, Amélie Sirois recalls in her interview this first weekend of the convoy to Ottawa on January 29 and 30, 2022, which she participated in to cancel the vaccination obligation.
Amélie Sirois was then 16 months pregnant with her son when the COVID-19 vaccination campaign began. She had chosen not to receive this vaccine during her pregnancy and was unsure whether her newborn would receive the vaccine in the medium term.
With the introduction of vaccination passports, she feared her son would be unable to participate in activities such as the swimming lessons he is currently taking if he is not vaccinated against COVID-19. I wanted my son to be able to participate in civic life like everyone else
Amélie Sirois explains.
That’s how he came to participate in demonstrations on the first weekend of the convoy in Ottawa. She told herself that she would at least try to get her son’s name heard.
The show was like a balm for him, especially since he saw himself as the black sheep of his surroundings. It felt great to be around people who didn’t judge me
he continues.
” It felt good to be in a different group […] and don’t feel like a black sheep. All the sheep are finally together! »
According to him, did the caravan affect the health measures of governments? fun de croire que oui. That would be it fun to believe so. Not a single politician or policy writer admitted that it was indeed a sudden pressure due to the convoy.
Amélie Sirois reckons.
I hope it’s over, but we’re still in a pandemic [et] we still have the same decision makers

A year later Mr. Derksen still fighting in the federal capital. Why? Because we are still struggling with the same problems
spear Brian Derksen, English.
Profile Facebook the latter include public publications opposing COVID-19 vaccines, health measures and the Trudeau government. During his interview with Radio-Canada, he said several times that he does not believe in the existence of a pandemic or even of COVID-19.
Anyone who claims to have been working in the trucking industry for a long time knows that convoy traffic of trucks won
his bet. Can you imagine where they were going before we got here? But where would we be now?
Like many supporters of Convoy, Brian Derksen believes Justin Trudeau’s federal government overstepped its authority and jurisdiction by implementing health measures against COVID-19, even though most events were canceled when protesters arrived in Ottawa.
And what guarantees us that they won’t start all over again?

We have not yet had a government that held a round table as we requested from the beginning

the president of Commonwealth of Canada he says he’s still waiting for an investigation into the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last November, the founder of the Reform Party of Canada, Preston Manningannounced his intention to create an independent national citizen survey on the subject.
The purpose of the study will be to evaluate the implications of federal decisions related to COVID-19 and make recommendations. A thorough investigation is needed

So there’s still work to be done to shine a light on these hearings and really take them to another level so that people know that the hard work that we’ve done in Ottawa – exposing all of this – has not rightly gone unnoticed.
