Weather News: Snow monitoring: snow reaches Carcassonne, Toulouse and Béziers – METEO CONSULT – 15-DAY DETAILED WEATHER FORECASTS
Due to the snow that fell to the plains this Thursday in the southwest and in the north around Paris, our services open the continuation of this degradation to help you with your decisions. Here is the exact timeline of this degradation that started this afternoon.
This Thursday
At 9:40 p.m in the southwest, the rainy-snowy episode ended in Poitou, Charentes, as well as Dordogne. Between Perigueux and Bergerac, 5 to 10 cm of snow was essential. On the other hand, the situation in Occitania worsens as a result of the snowfall in Toulouse. In the Aude and especially in Carcassonne, the snow is more abundant and longer. This snow reaches Mount Herault. It is snowing in Beziers. In the north of the city, the layer reaches 3 cm from a height of 200 meters.
A rain-snow concern is currently moving through the Midi-Pyrenees and Languedoc-Roussillon. Falls of #snow continues on #Toulouse, #Carcassonne and #Beziers. In plains, they can be raised from 2 to 5 m. Be careful on the roads in these areas tonight! pic.twitter.com/ArSEWTYOBO

In the north, light snow is still continuing from Picardy through Paris to the south of Essonne. They are weak and no longer have the characteristic character of daytime and evening snowfall. However, you should be wary of freezing again tonight as the temperature drops.
At 8:55 p.m Although conditions have improved from Charentes to Dordogne with the end of the snowy episode, conditions remain very poor in the Aveyron with snow from Lot to Tarn and Tarn-et-Garonne as well as the plain. .

The situation is improving in Essonne and Val-de-Marne as snow showers ease in the Paris region. But this afternoon and weaker than this evening, a new line of snow showers is currently crossing the Val-d’Oise towards the Hauts-de-Seine and Paris. Locally, a light dusting of 1 to 2 cm is possible, but a priori not more.
At 8:25 p.m Be careful in the Paris area! After heavy snowfalls that left 2-5 cm on the ground south of Paris, other snowfalls come directly from Picardy. They will pass Paris and its crown at 10 p.m. Very locally, we expect 1-2 cm of snow on the ground in the suburbs.
At 7:50 p.m the new fact is the snowfall from the Hauts-de-France to Normandy, now the Paris region, Champagne and Burgundy.
A #cold_drop It originated in the Hauts-de-France and is descending towards Burgundy this evening. It is currently passing through the Paris region #rain from the snow. If you are driving in the north and east of the country tonight, be careful! pic.twitter.com/gpmyU40EkG

Because the temperature is close to 0°C, this snow immediately sticks to the ground and forms a 2-4 cm thick layer in Esson.

At 6:55 p.m Snow is starting to stick to the ground in Charentes with 2cm in Saintes (17) and 1cm in Angoulême (16). Snow is now replacing rain between the Dordogne and the Lot, with temperatures dropping rapidly to 0°C. Due to the intensity of this snow, traffic in these departments is rapidly becoming difficult. At the front of the rain-snow front, from the north of the Gironde to the north of the Haute-Garonne, temperatures are currently falling by around 2°C. The first flakes mix with rain in Médoc, Agen (47) and Toulouse (31).
At 5:55 p.m It snows from Aveyron to Vendée. The temperature in the plain between La Charente and Aveyron is around 0°C, slightly positive in the bordering departments. In such conditions, snow is hardly caught on plain roads, but it can hang on roads (gardens, high-altitude roads).
At 4:48 p.m : plains temperature drop continues in Limousin. 0.1°C in Limoges now, 0.7°C at 2:30pm. This is also the case in the north of the Dordogne and Corrèze departments. The temperature becomes negative above 500 m. Snow does not really hold in the plains. With the temperature dropping slightly below 0°C, it will take 1-2 hours for this snow to stick to the ground.
Real generalized deterioration in alert departments is still scheduled to start from 6:00 p.m.
At 4:08 p.m, light snow mainly develops between Limousin and north of the Tarn as expected. Given that the temperature is slightly positive in the plains and not quite cold lands, this snow does not stick to the ground and therefore does not pose a transport problem. If you are traveling at an altitude of 600 m, it is slightly less.
At 2:50 p.m, the snow arrived in Limousin, where the temperature of the lowlands reached about 1 degree, as in Limoges, for example, where the snow was 0.7 degrees. These light snowfalls extend south to the Albi border in the Tarn department. They are more durable beyond this limit of 50 km. This zone clearly shows the transition between rain towards the Atlantic coast and snow towards the Massif Central.
at 2 p.m., the rains are slowly moving inland and are now covering all regions between Brittany and New Aquitaine. A few light snowfalls are observed above 400 m in Upper Vienna. Temperatures are always positive, between 4 and 6 degrees near the Atlantic coast and about 2 degrees from Upper Vienna to Tarn-et-Garonne. Degradation is still scheduled from 4 p.m.
At 12:25 p.m
A rain disturbance associated with the depression in the Bay of Biscay produces rains along the entire Atlantic coast with positive temperatures between 3 and 6°C. These rains extend inland to the Ile-et-Vilaine departments in the Gers, with temperatures dropping to 1-2 degrees in Upper Vienne and Dordogne. During the next 2 hours, the evolution is not aggravating, because even if the snowfall is observed in the direction of Limousin, it will fall from a maximum height of 300 m. There will be rain or a mixture of rain and snow below.
The chronology of this degradation
This Thursday, a new snowy episode will concern the south-west, crossing the Gironde in the afternoon before heading to all departments south of the Garonne after Wednesday, then moving to the Mediterranean. The degradation expected today is nevertheless different and probably greater if an isothermal event occurs. But what can you really expect?
The depression will be more active this Thursday. Located near the Atlantic Ocean at 12 o’clock and centered at 1002 hPa, it is expected to expand to 1000 hPa in the center of the Bay of Biscay by 15 hours. Between 15:00 and 18:00 it will move towards the Gironde coast. Its forward momentum will slow as it moves towards the Gers branch, which it will reach at 9 p.m. It then accelerated towards the Mediterranean Sea.
In this context and From 14:00 to 15:00., the first new snowfall is expected near the Charente coast. However, due to the still positive temperatures, they will often be mixed with rain. Traffic conditions will not be affected.
From 15 to 5 hours., the snowfall will intensify as it stretches from the Vendée to the Lot. Temperatures will drop to 2°C, possibly 0°Cisothermal. In this context, snow can stick to the ground from a height of 400 m.
From 17:00 to 19:00., snowfall will begin to weaken between Charentes and Limousin, but will increase throughout Occitania. This will happen the beginning of a rather critical periode. The risk of falling temperatures and isothermal conditions, possibly 0.5-1.5 degrees below forecast, could help keep snow on the ground above 200-300m.
From 7 pm to 9 pm., the critical period continues between Tarn, Aveyron and Roussillon with the maximum intensity of snowfall now forecast. Behind, towards the Limousine, the episode will gradually end.
From 9 p.m, the snow will gradually lose its intensity over Roussillon. This improvement will lead us to raise our special statement.
Given the risk of sudden deterioration of conditions and the risk of rapid snowfall in the plains, we recommend caution and advance.
The next point is at 12:20 p.m
