As 2023 begins, it’s time to revisit the best rock climbing and adventure movies of 2022. Watch all nine full episodes of Reel Rock Tour 2022 for free on Red Bull TV.

Over the course of nine episodes, this eighth season of Reel Rock presents a collection of new adventures and inspiring stories that take viewers to some of the world’s most beautiful locations, from the Yucatan Peninsula to the Rocky Mountains of the United States. Fontainebleau to the Picos de Europa, featuring climbing stars like Sasha DiGiulian, Alex Honnold, Tommy Caldwell, Beth Rodden and Charles Albert.

Rayu, the flagship episode of this season

There are nine episodes Striped, by Sasha DiGiulian, Matilda Söderlund and Brette Harrington on the first run of “Rayu” (600m, 8c). In September 2022, they made history by becoming the first women’s team to free climb a multi-pitch 8c route. “The feeling of achieving something you didn’t think was possible is a unique thing” After this achievement, Sasha DiGiulian said.

Nine full movies to watch for free

  • Striped: Sasha DiGiulian, Matilda Söderlund and Brette Harrington became the first all-female team to conquer the 8c “Rayu” multipitch in Picos de Europa, Spain.
  • Barefoot Charles : Charles Albert is an atypical climber. Follower of a minimalist lifestyle close to nature, singing opera and living in a cave in the middle of the forest of Fontainebleau, this lonely athlete fights with stones that demand complete abandonment. Discover the mysterious life of this French Mowgli, who climbs only barefoot and without a crash pad, and whose humility will almost make you forget that he is one of the most incredible climbers on the planet.
  • Great things will come : American bouldering champion Alex Johnson is known for her first female ascents. In 2011, she decided to become the first woman to cross The Swarm, the famous 8B+ Buttermilks in Bishop, California. This seemingly impossible challenge will consume him for years, leading him to moments of frustration and great disappointment… but it’s also the story of his personal journey that led him to come out, find love, and stand up for LGBT rights.
  • Cenote : A papaya farmer explores the magical jungles of the Yucatan Peninsula and discovers rock climbing almost by accident. His discovery leads him to make a decision that will change his life forever and lead him to pursue his new passion.
  • Embrace part 1 : Indefatigable duo Tommy Caldwell and Alex Honnold have a very unlikely encounter while climbing 17 peaks in the mountains of Colorado. Tommy’s childhood friend Adam Stack comes to their aid in an epic adventure.
  • Embrace part 2 : Tommy Caldwell and Alex Honnold find themselves in the mountains without food or necessary equipment. Tommy’s childhood friend Adam Stack comes to the rescue and helps them on their epic adventure.
  • This is Beth : Beth Rodden goes back in time and tells us about her climbing career marked by self-destructive behavior. After she became a mother, there was a shift in consciousness and she finally began to accept her body.
  • Bridge Boys : British duo Tom Randall and Pete Whittaker, famous for their crack climbing experience and penchant for strange challenges, tackle the longest and most difficult horizontal crack ever. Almost 800m long, it sits under a motorway bridge in Britain and consists of 80 continuous climbing pitches. Pete and Tom will have to deal primarily with the noise, pain and dangerous pit stops of the relentless traffic of cars and trucks.
  • Flex : Climbing duo Matty Hong and Margo Hayes tackle ‘Kryptonite’ and ‘Flex Luthor’, two of the most legendary climbing routes in Colorado, USA. “Flex Luthor” has not been climbed by anyone for almost 20 years.
